Srinagar: A 23 year old youth was killed after army personnel fired at protesters in a Shopian village on Saturday.
Javed Ahmad, a resident of Balpora, Shopian was among three injured in army firing at Ganowpora.
Medical Superintendent Pulwama, Dr Abdul Rasheed Parra told Kashmir Reader that Javed was brought dead.
Earlier, army soldiers fired in Ganowpora village of Shopian, after clashes between protesters and forces erupted in the area sources said.
Ganowpora is the village of Firdous Ahmad Lone, a Hizb militant who was killed in a gunfight at Chaigund village along with another militant Sameer Ahmad on Wednesday.
SSP Shopian, S A Dinkar told Kashmir Reader that there was stone pelting on army convoy after which soldiers fired few shots in air. “There was stone pelting on army convoy and army personnel fired some shots in air,” SSP said.
Locals however said that three persons sustained injuries in army firing. They identified the injured as Rahul Ahmad of Ganowpora, Javed Ahmad of Balpora and Rayees Ahmad of Narpora villages. Javed Ahmad later succumbed to his injuries.
