Srinagar: A minor boy who was injured after a live shell from Shopian gunfight site exploded in his hand has been operated upon by doctors at SKIMS Soura for “serious brain damage”.
Local residents said that Musharraf Najar from Daramdoor village, neighbouring Audoo where the encounter took place, was injured on Thursday morning near his home when he was playing with other children.
“He might have brought some explosive shells from the encounter site where he was playing with the rubble,” they said.
Two militants and a minor boy were killed in a gunfight on Wednesday at the site.
Medical Superintendent SKIMS, Dr Amin Tabish told Kashmir Reader that Musharraf had received serious injuries on head and face, apart from multiple injuries on his body and right hand.
“His face has disfigured badly and his left hand has been damaged due to the impact. However, we are more concerned about his head injury,” he said.
“His condition is very serious we can’t say anything clearly as of now. Let’s hope and pray that he recovers soon from brain damage then only we can fix other injuries on his body,” Dr Tabish said.
