Police arrests two drug peddlers in Srinagar

Srinagar: Police on Thursday arrested two drug peddlers from Lal Bazar area of Srinagar city after their vehicle was intercepted and a large quantity of banned psychotic substance and 210 codeine phosphate bottles were recovered from their possession.
In a statement, the police said, “One Tata Indica car bearing registration No. JK01P-4395 was intercepted, and on checking large number of banned psychotropic substance Codiene Phosphate (210) bottles were recovered. In this connection two persons namely Mohammad Yousuf Bhat son of Ghulam Mohi-ud-din Bhat resident of Ahmad Nagar 90 feet Soura and Shabir Ahmad Sheikh son of Ghulam Rasool Sheikh resident of Khanyar Budoo Bagh were arrested.”
The police said the accused disclosed that they have been involved in selling the narcotic and psychotropic drugs since long and are selling the same among the youth in various areas particularly in district Srinagar.
The duo were selling the drugs at exorbitant rates to the youth of the area, the police said.
In this regard case FIR No 03/2018 under section 8/22 NDPS act was registered against the duo and investigation was taken up.
