JAMMU: The government has undertaken several welfare initiatives to ensure that the farmers get the requisite technological and monitoring interventions so that there is increase in agricultural production which would consequently result in their economical uplift, stated Deputy Chief Minister Nirmal Singh Thursday.
He was addressing a gathering of Kissan Morcha in Bishnah here on Thursday. President Kissan Morcha, R.S Chib was also present, an official handout read.
While referring to the several initiatives taken by the government of India and the state government, Singh said that these would go a long way in ensuring that the farming community and agriculturists get the requisite upliftment. He said that the government is aware of the problems being faced by this vital community of our society and the welfare programmes undertaken would ensure that these were redressed properly and that economic emancipation of these was ensured.
Nirmal Singh while referring to the initiatives being undertaken by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that they would ensure that the farmer’s income is doubled by 2022 and the state has also adopted them.
He said, “New scientific interventions in the agriculture sector will also give the requisite boost to the agricultural produce and the farming community should also adopt these.”
Singh said that the recent measure of the government of India to enhance the compensation to the border shelling victims would also provide necessary assistance to the people residing there who are mostly agriculturists.
He said, “The quantum of assistance has been increased vis-a-vis, the house damages, livestock and other related things which will provide necessary succor to those who have to bare the brunt of the border shelling.”
The DY CM assured them that all their genuine concerns would be taken care of and redressed properly, the handout added.
