Hajin: The resident of Mir Mohallah locality of Hajin’s Bandipora District on Thursday protested against the PDD for not repairing their transformer since 56 days.
The residents held a dharna in front of PDD office sumbal and raised anti PDD slogans to press for their demands.
Aggrieved residents told Kashmir Reader that 100 KV transformer is not able to cater to the load of 60 households and gets damaged frequently.
They added that their transformer developed snag in December last year and is yet to be fixed by the PDD authorities.
The residents asked the PDD authorities either disconnect their electricity connections or install 250 KV transformer which can suffice the load of 60 households.
“We have approached concerned officials many times, but they are not paying any heed to our pleas,” residents said. “We are reeling under darkness since last 57 days with authorities not bothering to repair transformer, he said.
Executive Engineer PDD Sumbal division Muzaffar Ahmad said that rampant use of heating gadgets by consumers leads to overload and subsequently to unscheduled power cuts and damage to the transformer.
