SRINAGAR: Jama’at-e-Islami Jammu and Kashmir has strongly condemned the “gruesome” killing of a boy Shakir Ahmad Mir and injuring others by government forces in Shopian district of south Kashmir on Wednesday.
Jama’at in a statement said it is New Delhi’s gift to Kashmiris on the Republic Day of India. “Kashmiris have been witnessing these atrocities since long but no one cares for them despite knowing that these hapless people are facing worst form of human rights violations,” it said.
Jama’at expressed deep sympathy with the bereaved family and asked the international human rights bodies to “take serious cognisance of this volatile situation (in Kashmir) and take effective measures to safeguard the oppressed Kashmiris from the clutches of Indian repression”.
