Srinagar: Two militants have been killed in gunfight with government forces in south Kashmir’s Shopian village, sources said on Wednesday.
A teen aged boy was also killed in clashes between protesters and forces near the gunfight site, they said adding three more, including two girls sustained injuries during clashes and are being treated at Srinagar hospitals.
“In an encounter today at Saigund Shopian, two terrorists have been neutralised and weapons have been recovered. Unfortunately one boy was also killed in the cross-fire and two ladies sustained injuries. Search is still going on,” J&K Police chief SP Vaid said in tweet.
The identity of the deceased militants was yet to be ascertained.
Earlier forces cordoned the village and started searches.
The hiding militants opened fire on forces resulting in the gunfight.
