Kupwara, Uri residents protest against power outages

Baramulla: Residents of Bandi Uri and Gugloosa Kupwara of north Kashmir protested against the Power outage in their localities on Tuesday.
Large number of people including women and children of Nai Basti Bandi area staged protest against the power development department (PDD) for failing to repair their electric transformer from last 20 days.
They said PDD officials failed to shift damaged transformer to the workshop despite many reminders to them.
Protesters blocked the Srinagar Muzafarabad road for some time and chanted slogans against the PDD.
Later a team of officials led by Tehsildar Uri and SHO Uri reached the spot and assured the people of raising the issue with PDD officials.
Meanwhile the residents of Gugloosa area of Kupwara also staged a protest on Tuesday morning against the PDD department for erratic power supply in the area.
Chanting slogans against the PDD, protesting people blocked the Kupwara Kralpora road for some time and later disbursed peacefully.
