Sopore: Security has been beefed up across northern Kashmir in the run up to Jan 26. Barricades and check points have been set up in several places where vehicles are routinely stopped and commuters frisked.
At many places in Sopore, Baramulla and adjoining villages, security forces were seen stopping and frisking vehicles and asking for Identity cards of commuters.
At many places army can be seen jointly manning the checkpoints with police.
The sudden spurt in frisking is causing inconvenience to commuters, many of whom complain of unnecessary harassment.
