Labourer dies, 2 injured at Kishanganga power project

BANDIPORA: Bandipora: A labourer died and two others got injured while working in Power House of 330 MW Kishanganga power project in Kralpora area of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district during intervening night of Saturday and Sunday, sources said.
An official said three labourers identified as Mohammad Yasir Mughal son of Mushtaq Ahmad Mughal, Naeem Akram Mughal son of Khurshid Ahmad and Mohammad Ramzan Sheikh son of Shamsuddin Sheikh, all residents of Ganduh Doda, working with Hindustan Construction Company (HCC) fell down accidentally from the stairs of the power house and got injured.
They were rushed to district hospital for treatment where from they were shifted to SKIMS Soura for advanced treatment. He said that at SKIMS Soura, one labourer Mohammad Yasir succumbed to injuries while two others were given treatment that stablised their condition.
Bandipora Police have registered a case under section 174 CrPC.
This is not the first death at Kishanganga hydel power project since HCC started construction of the project in Gurez and Bandipora divisions of the district in 2017.
Last year in September, a labrour died while clearing dewatering the tunnel, he was identified as Manjeet Singh, 27, from Amritsar Punjab.
In July, 2017 a Dumper bearing of HCC fell in to the dam of Kishanganga Hydero Electric Project resulting in the death of one Surender, son of Kartar Singh, a resident of Saghu, Padar, Kishtwar. Three others sustained minor injuries in the accident.
In 2009, two local workers were killed after they were buried under a snow avalanche.
