“We decided to return back to our home after no help from the government came in our way. We were left to fend for ourselves,” said Aijaz Ahmad who also lost his home after landslides hit his village.
Ahmed said that ‘then MLA Baramulla Javid Hussain Beigh and other officials announced Rs 50,000 compensation for each victim family, but we have yet to receive anything.”
President Local Masjid Committee Abdul Majeed said that due to adequate shelter, many people have fallen ill in the village and are witnessing worst of times.
“Most of the affected families are poor and cannot afford a rented room due to which they are compelled to live in their damaged house and sheds, he added.
Talking to Kashmir Reader, Tehsildar Baramulla Moeen Kakroo said: we are aware of their problem and Government is considering providing 5 Malras of land to each affected family. ”
