SRIANGAR: Chairman All Parties Hurriyat Conference (G) Syed Ali Geelani on Saturday strongly condemned the arrest of the resistance leaders, terming this as a mere frustration of the “puppet regime”.
In a statement issued here, Geelani said that Mohammad Yasin Malik was shifted to Srinagar Central Jail, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Mohammad Ashraf Sehrai put under house arrest.
Geelani said, “Police as a routine is arresting leaders on mere pretext.”
He strongly condemned the detention of Hurriyat spokesperson Ghulam Ahmad Gulzar, Bilal Sidiqee and Mohd Ashraf Laya.
It is undemocratic, said Geelani, and criticised the issuance of summon to Dr. Bilqees Shah, the wife of incarcerated senior Hurriyat leader by the Enforce Directorate (ED) to appear before its head office at Delhi. The veteran leader also condemned the unnecessary harassment to families of incarcerated leaders, saying it is “sheer political vendetta.”
