Jammu: The Jammu and Kashmir government was Saturday asked by a National Conference (NC) MLA whether the Indian army was vacating a piece of land in Kulgam district or not.
Army had occupied a sports ground in Shamsipora village of Homshalibugh assembly segment which is represented by NC’s Abdul Majeed Larmi.
“People have again gathered there at Shamsipora as security forces have occupied land; they have not left the area yet and three days have passed and government has done nothing,” Larmi told the house pressing government to issue a statement.
“There is a sports ground and a receiving station; the occupation of land is an important issue,” Larmi told the house.
“Some people had gone there yesterday and done politics over the issue,” Larmi said in apparent reference to independent MLA Er Rasheed’s visit and protest held by him yesterday in Shamsipora. “I don’t know who sent them there; either you or they,” he added without further explaining the issue.
Intervening Parliamentary Affairs minister, Abdul Rehman Veeri, told the house that government has sought details of the issue.
