AWANTIPORA: A tragic road accident in which a youngster from Pampore town was killed and another was injured at Lethpora area of Awantipora left the entire Pampore town in mourning.
The accident took place on Thursday evening leaving the 25-year-old dead while the injured was shifted to SKIMS.
Station House Officer Awantipora Nazir Ahmad told Kashmir Reader that accident happened near milk factory Ladhoo-Lethpora road between Tipper bearing registration number JK01G-5931 and Swift Desire bearing registration number JK01T-1503 collided with each other causing grievous injuries to two youngsters belonging to Kadlabal area of Pampore.
Both the injured persons were shifted to Sub District hospital Pampore where one of them identified as Manzoor Ahmad Ganaie son of Farooq Ahmad Ganaie succumbed to injuries while the other injured youth identified as Adil Ahmad Rather son of Mohammad Yousuf from Kadlabal Pampore was referred to Srinagar hospital in critical condition.
The driver of the Tipper fled from the accident site. Both the vehicles were seized by the police.
Police Awantipora registered a case FIR no 8/2018 in this regard, police said.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Traffic Pulwama/Shopian wing Sheikh Mudasir told Kashmir Reader that the accident was a result of rash driving on part of the tipper driver.
‘From tomorrow we will hold a drive to check the tippers and would observe their speed as most of them are found driving rashly,” he said, adding that the deaths were unfortunate and assured that those drivers who violate traffic rules would be death according to laws of the state.
