Jammu: The opposition members from National Conference and Congress on Thursday evening staged a walkout from the Legislative Assembly alleging that the speaker was “biased”.
Soon after Agriculture minister, Ghulam Nabi Lone (Hanjura) responded to various suggestions and concerns raised by the MLAs on agriculture sector, the speaker, Kavinder Gupta, did not ask the members if they are take backing their cut-motions or pressing for them. The grants were passed with the majority vote.
Enraged for not seeking their consent on cut notion, opposition members told Gupta that he was speaker of the house irrespective of any party.
“But your conduct seems biased,” Sagar told Gupta, “you are not speaker of BJP or this government but of all the MLAs.”
Sagar then led the second walk-out from the house. Early in the day, the opposition staged walk-out over power crisis in Valley.
After opposition seats remained vacant, sports minister laid the grants for his department which were passed without any much discussion.
