Jammu: The Jammu and Kashmir government on Saturday revealed that total number of Hangul in Kashmir’s Dachigam National Park were 182(+/- 39.39) with an upper and limit lowest limit of 214 and 138.
The government provided these details to Legislative Assembly in a written reply to MLA Eidgah, Mubarak Gul.
It said that last census was conducted in March 2017.
The forest minister said that 2016-17 witnessed most man-wild animal conflicts in last two years during which a total of 21 persons were killed in the fatal incidents.
“156 persons were injured the incidents for which Rs 60.33 lakh were paid as compensation,” the government said. “Rs 65.70 paid were paid compensation for the deceased during the financial year.”
In the corresponding year, 2017-18, the government said 9 persons were killed in the man-animal conflicts during which 97 people were injured.
“Rs 105.02 lakh was paid in compensation for the deceased while as Rs 83.70 lakh was paid to the injured,” the government details said.
The government further said that in 2015-16, 49 fire incidents were witnessed in Kashmir valley while it rise to 71 in the following year.
