SKTCC calls on civil admin, raises public grievances

SRINAGAR: To highlight the grievances of the business community, traders from Srinagar particularly, from old city on Thursday held a meeting with officials of district administration.
District Development Commissioner (DDC) Syed Abid Rashid Srinagar, SSP Traffic (Srinagar), Joint Commissioner SMC, officials from PDD, PHE, R&B and other concerned departments attended the meeting. Traders and their representatives from various areas of Srinagar were also present.
The officials were informed about various problems and issues faced by the traders’ community particularly, in Shahr-e-Khaas.
The issues raised included rising social evils, parking facility for shopkeepers, traffic congestion around various business centers, power cuts, dog menace, drainage failure and absence of fire hydrant points in and around the city.
“We are expecting government officials to help us in eradicating various forms of evils which are rotting the old city, in particular, with each passing day,” said Bashir Kenu President Shahr-e-Khass Traders Coordination Committee (SKTCC).
The DDC directed SSP Traffic and RTO Srinagar to regularise taxi services from Parimpora to Shahr-e-Khaas so that traffic issues of the business community could be resolved at an earliest.
The District Development Commissioner has assured the deputation that their grievances would be redressed on a priority basis.
Besides other issues, lack of toilets for females at various places in old city Srinagar were also discussed during the meeting.
