Baramulla: Government forces have installed several check posts across north Kashmir and are searching both private and passenger vehicles.
Check posts have been installed on Uri-Baramulla, Baramulla-Handwara-Kupwara, Baramulla-Srinagar and Kupwara-Srinagar roads where teams of army along with police are seen stopping all the public and private vehicles.
Drums painted with ‘Stop for Checking, Show your identity’ have been erected on roads.
Forces were seen directing the passengers to come out of vehicles and their identity cards were being checked. The documents of private vehicles were also checked.
“They are checking vehicles and asking people to show identity, documents of vehicles, but not a single luxury vehicles,” Faizan Ahmad, a local said.
“The frisking is only to put pressure on those working for militants,” an army officer said.
