176 pilgrim sites, shrines being developed under pilgrim tourism
JAMMU: To create facilities at various pilgrim shrines of the state, government is spending Rs 5 crore annually under Capex Budget, Minister of State for Tourism Priya Sethi informed the House on Tuesday. She was replying to a question by Girdhari Lal Raina.
She said around 176 pilgrim sites and shrines are being developed by creating various facilities for visitors under pilgrim tourism. “Under the pilgrim tourism, the government is providing basic facilities like PCs, Wazu Khanas, Dormitories and illumination at the shrines and temples”, she added.
Giving specific information about Shadipora, she said the government has constructed 10 washrooms and 8 public convenience blocks at the historical site.
She also informed that as part of Swadesh Darshan Scheme aimed at developing theme based circuits, around 15 thematic circuits have been identified in the state for which preparation of DPRs is in progress, read an official handout.
She assured that the state government would pursue government of India’s Ministry of Tourism to incorporate Shiva circuit in thematic circuit of Swadesh Darshan Scheme, the handout added.
