PDP MLA demands house committee to probe ‘snail’s pace’ of Jhelum dredging

Jammu: Opposition legislators on Wednesday termed as “serious issue” that “no dredging was happening on river Jhelum” in Srinagar.
The issue was flagged by ruling PDP MLA, Mohammad Ashraf Mir, seeking establishment of a house committee to probe as “dredging was happening at snail’s pace”.
“Danger is looming over Srinagar as no dredging is happening from Srinagar to Pampore,” Mir told the house.
He was joined by National Conference legislators and MLA Kulgam, M Y Tarigami who told the house that government “was not serious and its approach was casual”.
The PHE minister’s response did not satisfy the PDP MLA and opposition.
