CASO being conducted in Pampore town
PULWAMA: Government forces on Monday resorted to aerial firing in south Kashmir’s Pulwama town after a few youths pelted them with stones when they were crossing the Pulwama market.
A forces’ vehicle came under stone-pelting at Rajpora Chowk Pulwama, witnesses told Kashmir Reader.
The stone-pelting was retaliated to by aerial firing, which created chaos in the town, they added.
Sources said that the sentry at police station Pulwama also fired some shots in the air after hearing the firing.
Superintendent of Police Pulwama Mohammad Asalam Choudhry told Kashmir Reader that some miscreants pelted stones on police vehicles near Shaheed Park Pulwama, to which forces retaliated with a few teargas shells and also fired some shots in the air.
Meanwhile, government forces on Monday launched a massive search operation in Pampore town and other area of south Kashmir, reports said.
Sources told Kashmir Reader that army and Special Operations Group (SOG) of the police launched a joint search operation at Doni Naar Tulbagh in Pampore town after a tip-off about the presence of militants there.
Police officials confirmed that a search operation was launched in Tulbagh Pampore.
The operation was still going on when last reports came in. No one has been arrested in the area, police sources said.
