Baramulla: A large number of people from Sheeri, Zogiyar, Gantamulla and Kitchama staged a protest demonstration on Monday morning at main market Sheeri on Srinagar-Muzafarabad highway against the shifting of tehsil office from the locality.
The protesters said that the state government established a new tehsil office for Narvaw valley two months ago and then minister for revenue Abdur Rahman Veeri formally inaugurated the office. However, they claimed that “some selfish people” through different political channels were trying to shift the office to some other location. The matter has been taken to the court of law also.
They said that Sheeri market where office was inaugurated by the former minister is in the middle of valley where people from every nook and corner could reach. The protesters blocked the road for hours halting traffic movement on the budy road.
Later tehsildar Sheeri Moin Ahmad Kakroo arrived at the spot and assured protesting people that he will forward their protest to higher authorities. Tehsildar said that matter was in the court and they will not take any decision without people’s choice. Later traffic was restored.
