Jammu: All the Congress MLAs on Tuesday staged walk-out from the legislative assembly after they were not satisfied by the response of the tourism minister and his deputy over government’s initiatives in promoting the tourism sector of Kargil.
“There is no package for promotion of tourism in Kargil,” said MLA Kargil Asgar Karbalayee.
“I can’t answer you overnight,” said newly inducted cabinet minister, Tassaduq Hussain Mufti.
“I am not talking about Bangalore and Hyderabad promotional campaigns by tourism department,” MLA Kargil told the house.
Mufti, however, asked the MLA to sit down and “give me some time to know the things of the department and then I will answer all questions”.
MoS Tourism, Priya Sethi, also responded but the Congress MLAs stood up from their seats and tore apart the government documents from tourism department and left the house.
MLA Leh, Deldan Namgyal, asked the speaker: “make me tourism minister for one day and see the change.”
“The government has done nothing for promotion of tourism in Kargil and whatever has been said in past has not been done,” MLA Kargil said.
