Ganderbal: Residents of Ganderbal villages Monday staged protest against PDD for not providing proper electricity to them.
Hundreds of villagers of Hariganwan Kangan staged a massive protest and blocked Srinagar-Leh due to which hundreds of vehicles were seen stranded on the busy highway leaving the commuters to suffer.
The protesters chanted slogans against the concerned authorities for not providing them with proper power supply.
They alleged that many villages like Mamar, Ganiwan, Sumbal, Gund and other adjoining areas have been affected by bad power supply and unscheduled power cuts.
They added that PDD has failed to provide adequate electricity in these areas.
“We have been demanding replacement of high capacity transformer in the reviving station Surfraw to overcome the crisis,” Sayar Ahmad Yatoo, a protester told Kashmir Reader.
He added that they approached the concerned authorities of PDD several times but they got nothing except assurances and promises.
