Student barred from exam; Edu dept orders probe

Handwara: A day after Kashmir Reader reported that a video clip has gone viral on social media in which a student from a poor family alleged that the headmaster of Government High School Haril in Handwara stopped him from sitting in the 10th class examinations, the Education department has ordered a probe into the incident.
Deputy Chief Education Officer Kupwara Gulam Ahmad Bhat has been appointed as the enquiry officer and ordered to file the report within one week with the Director Education.
After the 10th class results of Kashmir division were declared this week, a video clip surfaced on Thursday in which, Showkat Ahmad Chachi son of Bullah Chachi of Shitra village of Langate, Handwara explained how the head master of his school stopped him from sitting in the 10th class examination.
A day after the video surfaced, the school management published a notice claiming that the roll number of the said boy was not issued by the state board of school education because of attendance shortage. The headmaster also wrote that a so called media reporter created confusion among the people.
