Srinagar: The Higher Education department has cancelled the appointment of an assistant professor four months after the candidate joined the post.
Farida Batool, 37, a resident of Leh was appointed as Assistant Professor in Sociology June 20, 2017, and later posted at Budgam Degree College.
However, she was shocked to receive the government order No. 660-HE of 2017 dated: 24.11.2017 which cancelled her appointment because of some corrections made by Public Service Commission.
Another candidate was appointed in his place after the candidate had filed an RTI which reportedly revealed that Public Service Commission had not been awarded 5 points on account of his basic qualification.
Farida has approached the court which has stayed the order for now.
“Without any ground, she was removed from her services despite the fact she performed exceptionally well in the screening test conducted by PSC and was figuring at serial no.5 under ST category. She was posted and then removed without any justifiable reason. The court has stayed the order for now and hopefully, the candidate will be absorbed back in her services,” advocate Shafqat Nazir who represents the aggrieved candidate said.
The public service commission had selected assistant professors in various subjects in 2017. Farida Batool was selected under Schedule Tribe category.
“I just don’t understand how the government can order randomly to remove someone from services. I have cracked the screening test and interview. I was having all the requisite qualification with four years’ experience of teaching but still, I was shown the door. I will fight till I get justice,” Farida said.
