SHOPIAN: The government forces on intervening night of Wednesday and Thursday arrested two persons in a raid from Meminder village of Shopian after the clashes during the day in the village against the killing of a Kulgam civilian at the hands of government forces.
The family of the arrested persons told Kashmir Reader that past midnight at around 12:30 am, the government forces raided the two houses and arrested a youth and father of another who was not at his home. Locals identified the persons as Umer Altaf Zargar son of Muhammad Altaf Zargar and Shabir Ahmad Khan against his absconding son, both resident of Memender Shopian.
Senior superintendent of police Shopian S A Dinkar confirmed the arrests to Kashmir Reader and said that both the persons were “chronic stone throwers”. “We are in touch with families also and we are looking for counselling them. The constant stone throwing in the village was the reason behind the arrests,” he said.
