Only one student qualifies Board exams in govt school, parents protest in Kupwara

KUPWARA: Parents from Dardpora village in district Kupwara on Thursday morning assembled outside the government high school here and protested against the school authorities against the poor results in 10th class examination.
The protesters said that only one student passed out of 44 students in 10th class examination which was declared on Wednesday.
They raised anti-government slogans over the poor annual performances of students.
Last year, 52 student’s appeared in annual examination and 4 students qualified the exam. This year, only single student qualified the exams among 44 students, protester said.
High school Dardpora is functioning without permanent principal, additional charges given to zonal educational programming officer (ZEPO) of the concerned area, protesters said.
Sarpanch of Dardpora, Abdul Gafoor, said that locals of the area have been deployed in the school who don’t do their duties and they are not even bothered about the annual or mid-term performance of students.
In charge principal of Dardpora High School, who also holds zonal educational programming officer (ZEPO) of the area, said that he has additional charge of 4 schools including high school Dardpora among which 2 schools have satisfactory result excluding High school Dardpora.
“We are collecting the data and appropriate action will be taken against the school staff,” he said.
