SHOPIAN: Several government departments and forces owe as much as Rs 1892 crore to Power Development Department (PDD) on account of electricity bills by October 2017, the government informed the legislative assembly on Thursday. It includes the PDD itself.
In reply to a question by Handwara legislator Abdul Rasheed Sheikh the government said that government forces including army, CRPF and BSF have not paid the bills.
Sheikh had asked the government about the month wise pending dues of electricity bills of the government departments.
As per the information, government forces owes more than Rs 9 crore in its share of Rs 802 crore that departments in Kashmir division owe to the government. PDD owes Rs 7.76 crore to its own department in Jammu only.
