Srinagar: Dozens of senior citizens on Wednesday held a protest in Srinagar against the government decision of removing director SKIMS Dr AG Ahangar ‘without any reason.’
Last week, the government removed Dr Ahangar and suspended three senior doctors after a private news channel carried a sting showing them doing private practice at their clinics.
Carrying placards and banners reading, “we stand with you AG Ahangar”, the protestors demanded the government to reinstate the doctor. They alleged that the director was removed under political pressure.
“Director SKIMS cannot be made a scapegoat for wrong doings of others,” said Farooq Ahmad Trali, Chairman of senior citizens council Tral.
The former trade union leader along with the protesters appealed the Chief Minister to revoke his attachment order.
Trali warned of intensifying protests if the government fails to revoke the order. “Locals from tral and its adjacent villages will come out on the streets if the order is not withdrawn and government will be responsible for it,” he added.
