Relatives of slain Kupwara goldsmith protest, demand his body

KUPWARA: The family members and relatives of murdered goldsmith Tariq Ahmed Malik staged a protest outside the DC office in Kupwara district on Wednesday and demanded his body.
Tariq Ahmad, a gold smith from Kupwara, went missing from 26 December last year from his shop at Sopore town. Recently Sopore police arrested four persons in the connection of his murder and claimed that these four persons kidnapped Tariq and killed him and then thrown his body into the river Jehlum from Sopore by-pass bridge.
“If Police claims he has been murdered and his body has been thrown into the river, why doesn’t they make efforts to recover his body,” protesters said.
The Sopore police claimed that efforts to trace the body is underway.
The police have already arrested four persons namely Mohammad Sajad Lara son of Mohammed Afzal Lara, Mohammad Adil Lara son of Mohammed Afzal Lara, Ghulam Mohammed Lara son of Ghulam Qadir Lara and Nayeem Ahmad Lara son of Ghulam Mohammed Lara, all residents of Ashpeer Sopore for their involvement in the murder.
