Bijbehara-Shopian-Zainapora road to complete soon: Naeem

JAMMU: Minister for Public Works Naeem Akhtar Wednesday informed the legislative Assembly that the widening, up-gradation of Bijbehara-Shopian road via Zainapora is in full swing and is expected to complete in next financial year (2018-19).
He said work was taken up under CRF in 2015-16 at a sanctioned cost of Rs 48.93 crore for an aggregate length of 12 kilometre from Railway junction Bijbehara to Chitragam (RD 2500 to RD 14500M).
Replying to a question by Ajaz Ahmad Mir, the Minister said that out of a total length of 12 kilometres, a length of three kilometres has been upgraded to double lane and macadamized.
The widening of the remaining length including construction of protection works and cross drainage is in progress. He said this stretch of road is expected to be completed in the year 2018-19.
He further told that the scheme is targeted to be completed in September 2018 as per agreement with the executing agency.
