BARAMULLA: In a bid to impart necessary agricultural training among farmers under ATMA scheme, the Deputy Commissioner Baramulla Dr Nasir Ahmad Naqash on Tuesday flagged off a team of 40 farmers for an agricultural tour to the SKUAST Shalimar, Srinagar for one day training programme.
The programme organised by horticulture department, in which farmers from different areas of the district participated, aims at educating them with new and modern methodologies in farming sector.
Chief Horticulture Officer Saif-u-Din Ganaie and various other officers were present on the occasion. Speaking on the occasion, the DC emphasised upon the farmers to avail benefits of the programme so that the overall production and productivity is enhanced. He stressed for adopting such measures besides educating other farmers about their benefits.
Terming horticulture as ‘backbone of the economy’, the DC said that the government is committed for the welfare of farmers for which various initiatives and measures are afoot.
