SRINAGAR: Demanding immediate reinstatement of Prof AG Ahangar as Director of SKIMS Soura, the Doctors Association Kashmir (DAK) on Monday said that he has been made a “scapegoat”.
In a statement, DAK President Dr Suhail Naik said, “Director post of premier institution SKIMS is highly sacrosanct and some lobbies within and outside the institution are hell bent on bringing disgrace to it by playing to the gallery. Director SKIMS had time and again warned all faculty members against private practice and asked common public to inform the administration if they were indulging in the same through various notices which have already been issued several times in leading newspapers.”
Dr Naik called it “astonishing” that a “highly capable” director has been removed without any preliminary inquiry and in a knee-jerk response. “It is surprising that he was sacked within hours without giving him time to clarify,” Dr Naik said.
“DAK stresses that the attachment of the Director must be revoked immediately, failing which doctors would be forced to stall health services across the state,” Dr Naik warned.
