Karnah residents stage protest in Srinagar, demand construction of tunnel

SRINAGAR: Residents from Karnah area in frontier district of Kupwara on Monday held a protest at Press Colony here asking authorities to start work on a tunnel to ease connectivity of this area during winters.
They said the area remains disconnected for several months in winters, causing immense hardship to the people of the area. Protestors shouted slogan against the state and central government for ignoring their demand from last few years. The protestors were holding placards in their hands of recently killed persons from an avalanche.
Protestors said that the government has only make fake promises to them in this regard.
“Sadhana Pass has taken many lives including women and children. We request both the state and the central government to fulfill our demands without any delay,” said protestors.
