SRINAGAR: Casual labourers working under J&K United Employees Forum from department of agriculture, sericulture, tourism, social forestry and PHE on Monday held a protest outside Press Enclave demanding regularisation and implementation of SRO 520.
Muhammad Yusuf Wani, president of JK Temporary Employees Casual Labours said, “We are working on casual labour post from last 20 years. Recently implemented SRO 520 policy lacks provisions for us”.
“We are nearly 60 thousand workers in different departments and we demand we should be included in the benefits of 7th pay Commission,” Wani said.
Rouf Ahmad, spokesperson of Casual Labours Agriculture Union of Kashmir said, “We are requesting the state government for those Casual Labours who are working in different department from last 25 years. Most of the casual labours are illiterate. They did not get much benefits under SRO 520. The state government should take some steps in our favour in the upcoming budget session”.
