Sopore massacre Anniversary
SRINAGAR: Chairman Hurriyat Conference Syed Ali Geelani while paying rich tributes to victims of 6 January 1993 Sopore massacre demanded impartial investigation by international agencies into all the “gruesome” massacres in Jammu Kashmir.
In a statement, Geelani while criticising the international community said their silence over these “gruesome and heart wrenching” incidents is painful and their tall claims and “rhetoric” for their fight against state sponsored terrorism proved mere hoax.
“The spirits and courage of people of occupied state are commendable as during all this period they faced the worst situations at the hands of Indian armed forces,” Geelani said. “We are duty-bound to safeguard all the sacrifices offered by people.”
Demanding investigation into all the massacres in Kashmir by the UN-sponsored war crime tribunal, Geelani said, “Indian armed forces were committing serious war crimes in Jammu and Kashmir. Till the international community doesn’t take serious action in this regard, the common man in Kashmir will continue to suffer.”
“The great nations never forget their martyrs and they continue their struggle for which the martyrs have sacrificed their lives,” Hurriyat chairman said and reiterated that Kashmiris would not compromise on their mission.
