Srinagar: The Meteorological (Met) department on Friday predicted that the higher reaches of the Kashmir Valley may receive light rain and snowfall today.
A Met official told Kashmir Reader that there is a chance of light rain and snowfall in the upper regions of the Valley in the next 24 hours.
The official said that Pahalgam was the only place to witness snowfall till the last reports came in. He said that Pahalgam had received 0.2 mm of snow when this report was filed.
He said that Srinagar had recorded a maximum temperature of 9.5 degrees Celsius in the day and a minimum temperature of minus 3.2 degrees Celsius during the night. Jammu recorded a maximum temperature of 19.9 degrees Celsius in the day and 6.7 degrees Celsius in the night.
Leh recorded minus 2 degrees in the day and minus 10.3 degrees during the night.
Kargil was the coldest place in the state with a maximum temperature of minus 5.7 degrees Celsius and a minimum of minus 20 in the night.
Senior Superintendent of Traffic Police, National Highway, Sanjay Baghat told Kashmir Reader that one-way traffic would be allowed to ply on the Srinagar-Jammu highway as per routine.
