Srinagar: A police party led by police station Soura on Friday raided the residence of Hussain Fazili and arrested his elder brother, sources said.
Fazili was released after a long incarceration from Tihar jail, Delhi in 2017.
They said that Fazili was not present at his residence and police arrested his brother instead.
Fazili – a small time shawl weaver from Srinagar’s Bachpora locality – was 31 when he was arrested from his house on November 21, 2005. He was flown to Delhi the next day.
He was subsequently jailed for 12 years accused in the New Delhi serial blasts that killed 67 people ahead of Diwali on October 29, 2005.
He was acquitted from all charges by a Delhi court.
According to reports quoting Fazilis family sources he was being repeatedly called by the Soura police station to present himself there. But since he had no case and was not involved in any political activity, he never go to the said police station.
