SRINAGAR: National Health Mission (NHM) employees on Thursday conducted an open-air OPD at Partap Park, where they are protesting for regularization in health department.
Rauf Manzoor, the spokesperson of NHM, said that they have started open-air OPD at Partap Park, providing free of cost medicines to people after reports came that medical services in most of the hospitals in rural and urban areas have been affected. “The patients are worst affected due to non-availability of NHM staff,” he said.
Dr Shaeen Nawaz, President of Joint Coordination Committee of NHM, said, “We have 8424 employees in NHM who are on strike for last 16 days. We are demanding regularization from the state government. We do not want patients to suffer again. If the state government will take any step towards fulfilling our demands, then we are ready to start our work in the hospitals. We are also suffering from last eight years.”
He added that they want to convey to the state government that NHM employees are duty bound even during their protest.
“We have ten specialities of different backgrounds who are catering to a number of patients here,” he informed.
