Srinagar: Incarcerated Hurriyat Conference (M) chairperson, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, on Thursday condemned the killing of a youth in northern Kashmir’s Sopore area.
Arif Ahmad, a resident of Unisoo in the outskirts of Sopore was shot dead by unknown gunmen on late Wednesday night. He was laid to rest in his ancestral graveyard today amid amassive pro-freedom and pro-Pakistan sloganeering.
“Deeply saddened and strongly condemn the killing of 25 year old Arif Ahmed of Sopore by unknown assailants, killing human beings in every form is cowardly and against humanity,” Mirwaiz wrote on Twitter.
The Mirwaiz was detained on Wednesday ahead of a scheduled seminar to deliberate upon UN resolutions passed on Kashmir. However, government launched massive crackdown and foiled the seminar.
