Srinagar: The Pakistan federal cabinet meeting summoned by Pak Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi will discuss the recent offensive tweet by US President Donald Trump on Wednesday.
The Sessions of the Pak federal cabinet and National Security Committee (NSC) were called by the Pak PM Monday night, following the Twitter statement by Trump.
According to Pak media reports, the meeting will deliberate on the tweet by Trump along with the US administration’s South Asia policy.
Trump on Monday began the New Year by accusing Pakistan of giving Washington “nothing but lies and deceit”, announcing that the country will not get any aid in future. He tweeted that Islamabad thinks of US leaders “as fools”.
Trump said that Washington had “foolishly given Pakistan more than $33 billion in aid over the last 15 years”. In turn, he claimed that Pakistan had given “safe haven to the terrorists we hunt in Afghanistan, with little help”.
“No more,” he added, in what seems to be the latest iteration of Washington’s “do more” mantra.
