JAMMU: Governor N.N. Vohra on Monday said that government departments who carry out construction and other works in the field are not adequately aware of the importance of historical and archival buildings and monuments.
Governor stressed on the need for taking steps for revival and restoration of the historical, cultural heritage of the State, an official spokesperson said.
“It would also contribute to promoting tourism in the State,” he said after a meeting with Saleem Beigh, State Convener of the Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage (INTACH) who called on him at Raj Bhavan here.
Beigh briefed the Governor about various conservation and management initiatives being undertaken by the INTACH for preserving the cultural heritage and natural heritage of the State and create awareness among the public for their preservation.
