Fire destroys dozens of shops in Sopore market

Baramulla: Several shops were gutted in a fire incident at General Bus Stand Sopore in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Tuesday.
According to sources goods worth lakhs of rupees were destroyed in the blaze at General Bus Stand Sopore, a busy market place dealing in hosiery, plastic goods and other products.
Amin Lara a shopkeeper told Kashmir Reader that they noticed the smoke and soon saw huge flames erupting from some of the shops.
Soon after a team of fire tenders rushed to the spot and started to douse the flames.
No loss of life or injury was reported during the incident and the cause of fire was not known immediately officials told Kashmir Reader.
Local sources said that the fire mysteriously broke out in the poultry shop of Manzoor Ahmad Khan and spread to nearby shops at about 5.30 am.
The shops damaged in the fire incident belonged to ,Abdul Rashid Khan, Manzoor Ahmad Khan, Abdul Satar Denthoo, Mansoor Ahmad Sheikh, Mushtaq Ahmad Lara, Ghulam Hassan Ganaie, Khursheed Ahmad Lone, Mohammad Akbar Ganaie, Waseem Ahmad Gazi, Bashir Ahmad Khan, Mohammad Amin Moon, Mohammad Altaf Tara etc. A restaurant belonging to Liyaqat Khan was also gutted in the fire.
