JAMMU: The first meeting of State Level Sanctioning and Monitoring Committee (SLSMC) for Entrepreneurship Development and Employment Generation (EDEG) component of National Livestock Mission was held here under the chairmanship of Commissioner Secretary Animal/Sheep Husbandry R.K. Bhagat.
The Meeting was also attended by Director Planning Animal/Sheep husbandry, Directors of Kashmir and Jammu and senior officers of NABARD Regional office Jammu and SLBC.
Taking stock of implementation of poultry venture capital scheme and Integrated Development of Small Ruminants and Rabbits (IDSRR) under EDEG, the chairman stressed the need to have focussed attention on simplifying the sponsoring and sanctioning procedure of the cases forwarded to the banks and that close coordination should be maintained between officials of banks and animal/sheep husbandry at field level in selecting genuine cases for sponsoring and sanctioning, a official handout read.
The chairman said that it would go a long way “to encourage them to establish units under the scheme”.
It was also decided that banks would accept cases under the EDEG component only after they were endorsed by respective district officers.
This year GoI has allotted Rs 4.44 crore as subsidy for the EDEG component to NABARD and SLSMC sanctioned 87 cases under IDSRR and 113 cases under PVCFS, the handout read.
