SRINAGAR: All Jammu and Kashmir Chowkidar Association Monday staged a protest demonstration against the government for delaying monthly Rs 5000 honorarium to them.
Bashir Ahmad Sheikh, President of All Jammu and Kashmir Chowkidar Association said, “We are nearly 5500 chowkidars in the revenue department. We register births, deaths and other revenue department related work. We are working like a police man. We are giving all the information to the government.”
However, he said, “The honorarium which government gives us is not enough to fulfill the needs of our families. The government has already declared rupees five thousand salary for Chowkidars. But we have yet to get it. We have lot of expectations from the state government that they will solve our problems in upcoming budget session.”
They appealed Chief Minister of the state to look into the matter.
