BUDGAM: Thousands of people converged at the residence of slain central reserve police force (CRPF) personnel Saifuddin Ganai at Nagam in central Kashmir’s Budgam District. The people waited for hours for the arrival of the dead body in the afternoon. Saifuddin Ganai was killed in a fidayeen attack on a forces formation at Lethpora in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Sunday.
In the early morning when news of his death reached his village, all the business establishments were shut down and people began reaching his residence. A pall of gloom descended on the area.
Ganai’s death, his cousin Omar said, evoked widespread grief as he was always “connected with the public” with whom he had good relations.
Living in a double-storey house his mother is completely desperate.
Ganai family terms him a “shaheed” a martyr.
The funeral prayers were offered in the school ground where thousands of people participated.
Genie, who was the backbone of the family, is survived by his parents, three brothers and three sisters.
“Genie was recruited in CRPF in 2006 and was now working as a physical instructor posted at Lethpora,” Omar said.
