Flags off farmers’ exposure tour
REASI: To increase their produce, farmers should remain abreast with latest technology and learn innovative farming practices from other areas, Minister of State for Finance and Planning Ajay Nanda has said. He was addressing a function organised by Agriculture Department at Reasi before flagging off farmer exposure tour to Tanda.
The minister said that government was focusing on farming and other agriculture sectors by “introducing new schemes and programmes so that farmers and fruit growers can also reap extra benefits”, an official handout issued on Saturday read.
The minister also said that the government was committed towards streamlining and development of nurseries of various types of fruits keeping in view the topography of the areas so that fruit growers could also fetch enhanced income.
The minister also asked the farmers to “utilise this opportunity in best possible way by learning farming techniques being employed in other areas and integrate these techniques in their local areas”.
He also asked the concerned HDO accompanying the tour group to familiarise the farmers with new farming system.
Arrangements of boarding, lodging, stay and transportation have been made for farmers to give them “best ever experience” of the tour, the handout read.
