Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir High Court on Wednesday directed state authorities to furnish list of lease holders and hoteliers by Thursday who have encroached the land at Gulmarg tourist resort.
The court also directed the authorities to submit the legally allotted land details of these hoteliers and lease holders.
The division bench comprising Justice Ramalingum Sudhakar and Justice MK Hanjura said, “Whatever violation has been done in respect of lease land or buildings have been raised in violations of regulations and Master Plan, action against the violators shall be taken against them.”
Chief Executive Officer informed the court that notices have been issued to the violators and action was also taken against them.
While hearing the Public Interest Litigation (PIL), the court observed that a lot of encroachment has taken place in Gulmarg thus taking a toll on the biodiversity of the area.
The PIL was filed in 2012 by Mohammad Rafiq Zargar who has sought directions for protection of fragile environment of Gulmarg.
