JAMMU: To give a novel experience of Kashmiri traditional cuisine to Jammuites and to tourists alike, J&K Tourism Development Corporation (JKTDC) organised Harisa Festival ‘A winter cuisine of Kashmir’ here on Monday.
Managing Director (MD) JKTDC, Sarmad Hafiz inaugurated the 10 day festival to bring the taste of Kashmiri traditional winter cuisine to Jammu. This cuisine is being served with traditional Kashmiri bread and Kashmiri noon chai, an official handout read.
According to the handout, MD JKTDC said that it has been an endeavour of the corporation to promote and present the cuisines of the state to people of other regions, states. “We have been organising the Harisa festival from the last 3 years to promote this cuisine and to introduce the local populace of Jammu region to this popular dish, he said.
The corporation will also be organising multi-course Kashmiri Wazwan festival here at Jammu. Besides, food festivals will also be organised by the corporation in other parts of India to promote the ethnic and unique cuisines of the state, the handout added.
MD JKTDC said that the corporation was keen to promote tourism industry in the state by conducting food festivals at un-explored tourist attractions to lure maximum tourists and enhance destination branding. “It will eventually help to bring forth the positive image of the state,” he added.
